About the Instructor

Sam has worked as a clinical herbalist for over 15 years, is the founder of The Human Path, and is also a former U.S. Special Forces Medic.  

This was the start of a long journey into the world of plant medicine for Sam, and after thousands of clinical hours as both a medic on teams and in military emergency rooms, as well as working with herbs throughout following decades, Sam’s primary goal has become the creation of an integrative medical model that embraces both vitalistic and mechanistic aspects of herbalism into a collaboration with orthodox and energetic models of diagnosis and treatment.

The online portion consists of 12 weeks of lectures that take the student through both orthodox and herbal medicine in a remote or post-disaster environment where care may include wilderness first aid, emergency medicine, minor surgery, post-operative surgical care, wound and infection management and more.  The medical focus of this course is “doing more with less.” The online portion can be taken separately if desired.
